Mount Helen House
The major design component requested by the client for this project was the A Frame. The desire was for the A Frame to be celebrated, not to be adulterated by add-ons or bits and pieces. It was to be kept as a clean, simple, singular element.
This presented a number of challenges particularly regarding unusable/irregular spaces. The design was then procured dependent on use, via either storage or by simply bringing sidewalls in to create more user-friendly spaces. At the rear of the building are the utility areas and the main bedroom. These are located below a mezzanine, which operates as either another bedroom or study space and overlooks the double height, open plan area at the front of the building. |
